Planet Makeover Teaser

This video makes me squirm, and I have reservations about showing it off. It could have been so much better. I’m a pretty harsh critic so of course it irritates me when a project doesn’t end up being all it can be.

Things I like:

    • The website screenshots: This would have truly been a kick ass website. Maybe one day it will actually be built, but it will be an expensive website to create.
    • The editing and motion graphics: It moves pretty quickly and makes sense for the most part.

      Things I do not like:

        • The camera shots: Hate and loathing is more accurate than “do not like.” We weren’t responsible for it. I complained about the quality and the response I got was very defensive and used language I won’t repeat here. It’s a shame. There are some high-profile people in this and it could have been very impressive, but the camera work did not live up to my expectations.
        • The voice over: Ultimately, I could have influenced this. I did the original temp VO for editing and the client liked my VO and wanted me to redo it in a professional studio. This after telling us he was going to get Al Pacino. I said no in the hopes that it would force the client to get a pro, but at the last minute he got his partner to do it. Mine would have been much better, but it was too late.

The client never delivered on video for the beginning section, so we went with the 3D animatics we had created; which I kind of like. Considering the tiny budget and timeline we were able to complete this within, it’s impressive, but it just could have been much better.
